No. A door with a broken spring is very heavy and can fall. Call a technician.

My opener hums or clicks, but the door will not move. What is wrong?
Common causes are a broken spring or a door that has come disconnected from the opener. Do not try to lift the door by hand until you know which. Call us and describe what you hear.
My door starts to close and then goes back up. Why?
This is often caused by the safety sensors near the floor on each side of the door. If they are dirty, blocked or knocked out of line, the door reverses. Wipe both lenses and check that nothing is in the way. If it keeps happening, call us.
Should I repair or replace my door?
A single worn part, such as a spring, cable, roller or sensor, is usually a repair. Replacement makes sense when panels are badly damaged, the door keeps failing, or you want a different style. The estimate is free either way.
